edit: people are starting to say some "my worst nightmare" or "eeeww no that one is yucky and scary" comments on this like they do on any bug post and id like to say. it's fine if you don't like bugs it's fine if you're scared of bugs but don't put that on MY post clearly talking about how much i like them and how cute i think they are. you can make your own damn post about how much you hate wasps or spiders or whatever. i'm blocking people who make these kinds of comments.

My dad blinked at the question. The haze of smoke from his bong curled in the air and hit the trailer's roof. Green. He's greening out, half spread across his bed.

"I mean, I guess. Y'know they don't exacrky dance, but they kinda do a backflip or two, curling up when they get sprayed at."

"Yeah," I said. Death made them dance. In their final moments, they spin and twitch, all arms and legs twitching as they lay on their backs, head facing God for the first time. It's like a final prayer where you die in your killer's home. And they just watch you shrivel up, your last thoughts floating away by the time they stomped on your body.

Pop. Your guts spread out, and that's it. You're a dead bug.

I looked at my dad, whose body had done the same as any bug, slumped over, with closed eyes, clutching the bong to his chest so the smoke twists above him, floating.

His nickname, "Grasshopper," made sense now. Even without the green truck where he hung his arm outside the window, one hand on the steering wheel, he's the same man; the same bug.
